Book Subtitle: A Stoic glossary

Book Description: These are the most important concepts in Stoic philosophy.

The animating part of a person, thought to contain the ruling faculty, memory, and feeling.

The soul is corporeal, made of breath (pneuma), and subject to the laws of physics.

While the Stoics thought we had a soul, they did not think it was immortal or lived on without us.

The soul is a material thing, and after death the soul leaves the body and dissipates back into the universe.

Greek: Psychē ψυχή.
